Resin and Ink BUBBLEGUM TableTop

Working with Resin after working with Encaustic Hot Wax is a nice transition. They are both fluid when working these two mediums. Yet, they both have very unique qualities and have, of course, very different outcomes. I purchased a few wood tables to experiment with and my first try was great! I'm so excited ~ A lovely experience in my SHESHACK Greenhouse Studio :) this was so that the smell doesn't pollute my house ~ On my next attempt on a table top, I'll create a clear pour over it to develop more depth. It's been awhile since I've been active on my blog here, but for what ever reason, I'm back :) So here's the latest:

This weekend was the Primavera Exhibition at the Blackhawk Gallery in Danville held in the rotunda at 3416 Blackhawk Plaza Circle, Danville. It was a great turn out, fun had by all, the wine was flowing, music entertaining and the artwork fabulous. Thanks to Concanon Winery for their lovely donations of amazing wine ~ Pictured above one of my latest Encaustic Floral pieces / SOLD at Primavera. More of my work on my Artist Website: www.ClaudetteMcDermottFineArt.com

I demonstrated over the weekend my latest passion with Encaustic Hot Wax painting, and had lots of interested prospective clients and possible Workshop attendees. I of course, forgot my workshop cards so I just gave the info and handed out my business cards. Recently adding this to my offerings Introductory workshops of 4-6 hours, a one day event, scheduled at your convenience with up to 3 people only. You will walk away with techniques and 3 finished pieces by you, instructed by yours truly ~ Claudette

Encaustic HOT WAX painting in 2017 ~ Beeswax & Damar Resin

I just clicked on another artist's blog and noted that they hadn't posted for years... commented that I'd like to see them re-inspired by their work to post again. Then I decided to click my name which brought me to my site and it looks like I haven't either :) so here I am. For anyone who's checking, this is what I'm doing now. I'm working on painting with Encaustic Hot Wax and Resin with Acrylic. It's amazing and so freeing, because a lot has to do with the medium itself. There is a certain lack of control you have with these mediums, and you have to be comfortable to work on the fly a bit, which I am all about. My new website for my Art Work is: www.ClaudetteMcDermottFineArt.com and my website for my Jewelry is: www.MetalWorksJewelryToday.com

I've injured my hands working at Michael's being in the Replenishment Crew, even though I really enjoyed the work, it was too much for my hands. I didn't realize what I was doing to my hands, just thought my hands were adjusting, but... Well so it forced me to re-evaluate how I create my art so it lead me to Encaustic and Resin pouring which is easier on my hands. One door closes and another opens ~ Enjoy and check out my websites to see my latest and to purchase my work CHEERS 🍷

PLEIN AIR Painting Out Of Doors

Sometimes you need to get out of doors and get inspired. This painting came about from a Plein Air trip to Callippe Preserve Golf Course in Pleasanton. I had fun with this painting and created a woman out of the brown patch of hills that ran behind the course. The title "Resting my Eyes at Callippe Preserve." EDM / EveryDayMatters Daily Sketching

Just joined ( waiting to be accepted ) an online group that sketches daily with "Daily Challenges" by Danny Gregory: EDM Challenges | Danny Gregory  If you are interested just go to his "groups" listed on the side of his webpage and click on one, this way you can post what you have sketched and share as well as reply to other sketchings. His Face book group, is where I'll be posting my work reflecting his daily challenges. BEGINNING TODAY Here I will post random sketches I do daily, not necessarily connected to the EDM challenges on Danny's site, although some may :) Enjoy ~ Image posted above was sketched as I was having a great lunch at Alberto's Cantina in Downtown Pleasanton. Civeche Tostada with a side of salsa and not pictured was a Top Shelf Margarita ~

Getting your ART work OUT THERE

Time is flying by and I've been as busy as every trying to get My work and Artist Friends work out there as well. This year I promised myself that I would hold back a little on the promotional hours I've been putting in, and I have. I got a great gig for myself and the ACC art group to hang our work exclusively at Coffee Ali's in Pleasanton at the Vintage Shopping Center. The owner of this New Coffee shop actually asked me if I wanted to hang my work after catching my attention at an ACC meeting in front of Tullys. She was new and wanted to get some traffic in her coffee shop, and being a Savvy business woman, mixed some of the Local Artists work with what she had. This did stimuate traffic as a New Found Look at her place. She is now basically given complete wall space to us. We chang out monthly and I create Theme exhibits to create a cohesive show. We've captured the allention of clients, who is quick to say an appreciative "thank you" for sharing our work with them. We've captured the attention of the Pleasanton Weekly as well, who did a full page article on our group saying "They've turned the Coffee Shop into an Art Gallery. I recently dropped in at Tully's on Main, and now have my work showing there as well. It seems that it has finally caught on that Merchants Need the Community in which they operate, to be a part of their success. One can easily notice more groups meeting in their shops and some invite local artists to hang their work instead of the "Hotel Art" that graces their walls. Great positive feed back from all who visit their establishments.
